Presentation of Egemin Automation Award and Suppliers Awards
The Egemin Automation Award for Innovation was granted for the fifteenth time to the final-year student in industrial engineering with the most creative and economically applicable term paper on Saturday, April 16th. The Egemin Automation Award was this year presented by Mr Yves Leterme, Prime Minister of the Flemish Government, and Mr Luc Bertrand, president of the Board of Directors of the Egemin Automation Group.

Besides the yearly Egemin Automation Award for Innovation, the two-yearly Supplier Awards were also granted this year. These awards are traditionally granted to the suppliers of Egemin Automation that supplied an extra added value to Egemin Automation and its customers in the last two years. The Suppliers Awards were this year presented by Dirk Van Mechelen, Flemish Minister of Finance, Budget and Environmental Planning.This year’s Egemin Automation Award for Innovation was granted to Koen Defoort, graduated last year at the polytechnic Hogeschool West-Vlaanderen. His final papers titled “The Integration and Optimization of a Telemetric System” were rewarded with a cash prize of 12,500 €, equally divided among the graduate himself and the polytechnic.The Suppliers Awards are granted biennially. This year, the following Egemin Automation suppliers were among the winners (from left to right on the picture):

  • Alfa Laval Benelux, laureate of the “Partner Award”
  • Philippe Van Laere, KBC Bank en Verzekeringen, laureate of the “Services Award”
  • SICK Duitsland, laureate of the “International Suppliers Award”
  • Perdaen Nieuwkerken-Waas, laureate of the “National Suppliers Award”
The fifteenth anniversary of the Egemin Automation Award for Innovation was graced by the Beethoven Academy, amongst others.
