Egemin Automation receives repeat order from Hansen Transmissions
Hansen Transmissions International, headquartered in Edegem Belgium, is market leader in the production of gear units and drive solutions for a wide range of applications from water purification systems and industrial mixers to wind turbines. Egemin Automation has a close relationship with Hansen Transmissions and had been contracted twice in the past, respectively for the automation of the warehouses in Edegem and Lommel where the gear units for wind turbine generators are manufactured.

Scope of the project

Business is booming at the Lommel facility and therefore the existing storage capacity of the logistic hub needed to match the actual situation. Once again Hansen Transmissions turned to Egemin Automation to manage this new challenge. A detailed study comprising in-depth simulations and to-the-point logistic advice was commissioned first. Based on the outcome of the study Hansen Transmissions entrusted Egemin Automation with the entire automation part of the hub.

The project scope includes three new warehouses and 1 AGV zone:
  • 1 warehouse with 1 pallet crane for storage of large products
  • 1 warehouse with 4 pallet cranes for storage of medium-sized articles
  • 1 warehouse with storage elevators for smaller products
  • 1 AGV system for transport of heavy components up to 12 tonnes from the logistic hub to assembly

Egemin Automation's warehouse management system E'wms® will take care of the management of the three warehouses and the location management of the AGV system. The entire installation should be operational by the end of 2007.
