Egemin Automation retrofits automatic warehouse at Toyota
Toyota Parts Center Europe, established since 1992 in Diest, Belgium, takes care of the supply of spare parts to its Toyota and Lexus customers and dealers throughout Europe, North Africa and East Europe. One of the installations used for the distribution center’s activities is an automatic warehouse with 4 AS/RS stacker cranes which execute transport orders to store pallets. Customer service is one of the top priorities in the DC and that’s why Toyota makes high demands with regard to equipment availability. As an experienced retrofit specialist Egemin Automation got the job to upgrade the warehouse cranes. The project comprises replacement of the entire control, replacement of DC motors by AC motors and an upgrade of the E’car® control, Egemin Automation’s standard solution for controlling AS/RS systems. Due to Toyota’s busy distribution activities the cranes were rebuilt one by one during the weekend. The last crane was upgraded during the Christmas holidays. In addition to bringing higher reliability to Toyota’s DC, the upgraded control will lead to a considerable capacity increase.
