Merak automates with compact Egemin AGVs Handling Automation

MERAK is the Belgian number one in external storage of back-up tapes and documents on paper and film. Recently, the company has invested in a new archive center in Schelle with AGV system. In the future, pallet transportation of the archive boxes will take place automatically thanks to Egemin Automation’s E’gv®s (Egemin Guided Vehicles). The type of E’gv® that will be used can be seen in action during the upcoming Transport & Logistics trade fair (20-22 September at Antwerp Expo) at the stand of Egemin (stand A2026).

Compact AGVs for the transportation of archive boxes in narrow aisles

The AGV system will consist of 2 type FLV1010NL vehicles. These vehicles are laser-controlled and extremely suitable for the transport of europallets up to 1,000 kg, and can reach lift heights up to 1 metre. For the application at Merak, the AGVs – thanks to their compact design – are especially suited for manoeuvring through narrow warehouse aisles.

Positive experiences from the past

In 2003 Egemin already carried out a conveyor project for Merak at the records department in Overijse. Merak’s positive experiences with that project and the maintenance services Egemin has been performing for many years certainly played a role in the decision to embark upon this new project.
