Fonterra orders three new AGVs Handling Automation
Egemin has won a repeat order with the New Zealand dairy producer Fonterra. It comprises the production and delivery of an AGV system with three FLV/S vehicles for Fonterra’s new milk processing plant in Darfield. The contract will be carried out in collaboration with Egemin’s New Zealand agent, RML Automation, which will start up the system in the summer of next year. In this connection it has already received thorough training from Egemin.

The FLV/S is an AGV, an automated guided vehicle, that can safely move all kinds of goods in production, warehouse and distribution environments. At Fonterra the AGVs will collect pallets loaded with milk powder at the end of the production line and transport them to the expedition zone and provide for the supply of empty pallets to the palletisers. They also transport pallets with empty sacks, slip sheets and pallets for reblending (involving the making of a whole from two half pallets) to the production lines. Fonterra chose the FLV1721/SL, a laser-guided straddle vehicle that can lift 2,100 kg to a height of 1.7 m.
