Egemin installs visualisation system for De Lijn Infra Automation
De Lijn
Public transport company De Lijn has tasked Egemin to convert the existing remote control system in Antwerp’s ATK premetro control centre into a new visualisation system. Egemin will be responsible for the delivery, installation, implementation, commissioning and testing of the new system including both the hardware and software. The system will be operational by late 2014.

LOCATING AND REPAIRING FAULTS DIRECTLY

The existing visualisation system, which includes remote monitoring controllers (ATKs), synoptic panels and logging PCs, was no longer suitable for the continuous expansion of Antwerp's various tram lines. The new Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) visualisation system provides the remote monitoring and energy supply of the various tram lines. The control centre picks up all the contacts of the switches on the routes and controls them remotely.

The system monitors all high-voltage cabins that feed the rectifiers for controlling the tram lines. When a fault occurs, the centre can locate and repair the problem directly.

PILOT PROJECT FOR FLANDERS

"The visualisation system must be open and flexible for future expansions to Antwerp's transport network," says Tom Haesebrouck, project manager at Egemin Automation. "That makes the project unique to Flanders." Egemin won the tender on the basis of a weighted price/quality criterion. The total contract is valued at approximately 1.5 million euros.
